This surprising tale about characters you’re unlikely to see anywhere else could be your tonic right now.
In this delightful documentary, set in Aotearoa New Zealand, we follow James, who is caring for his mother, Isey. Isey is nearing 100, and James has been both her support and spiritual guide for a number of years. We were grinning from beginning to end. This tama’s (son’s) love for his mother is both adoring and comedic, and Isey’s one-liners are sharp as a tack. This is a story about being present and about revelling in community, family, love, and companionship of the here and now. 10/10 would recommend – it’s so damn uplifting, it’s just wow.
